Tour Down Under – Unley Gourmet Gala
Adelaide’s favourite street party, the Unley Gourmet Gala is back during the Tour Down Under, part of the UCI World Tour in January 2019!
The well-loved street party descends on King William Road with more than 30 gourmet food and wine stalls on offer for the Tour Down Under. The Unley Hotel is a vendor in 2019 serving burgers, beers, wine and gin cocktails. This free, family-friendly event will feature cooking demonstrations with local chefs. As well as fun-filled children’s entertainment and a world music stage. Furthermore, expect fashion parades, global music, DJs, roving performers, cyclists for the tour and more.
Also, in 2019, Indigenous DJ Taneisha Poole-Mottishaw will be featured on the multi-cultural stage. Spinning tunes and entertaining the crowd. Other performers include young local music group Malibu Drive. As well as Award winning slam poet Audrey Mason-Hyde and others.
Furthermore, the Unley Gourmet Gala was awarded Best Festival at the 2018 South Australian Tourism Awards. As a result, it is one of Adelaide’s most prestigious gourmet food and wine events during the Tour Down Under.
Lastly, the 2019 Gourmet Gala will be held on the eve of the Tour Down Under Stage 4 start.

History of The Santos Tour Down Under
The Santos Tour Down Under is Australia’s greatest cycling race, with a rich history as the highest-regarded and most popular bike race in the southern hemisphere.
In 2018, the event boasted an action-packed nine days of world-class cycling with gala dinners, street parties and an amazing atmosphere for riders and spectators, visitors and locals alike.
The event was first staged in 1999 with local rider Stuart O’Grady taking the win. Since then, numerous internationally renowned cyclists have joined the Honour Roll. The event has grown year-on-year to become the biggest cycling race in the southern hemisphere. – read more on the Tour Down Under.
